 Journal Reading #5

How would you describe the relationship between John the Baptist and Jesus?

The relationship between John the Baptist is that John was preaching on the world in order to transmit God message to humans. The message that John wanted to transmit was that people must repent and accept God in order to be saved. In order, to repent people had to leave their SIN behind so for that they need it to get baptized by John and by this action they could reborn and be a new person without any SIN. Jesus wanted to be baptized by John and was sent to learn how to preach to humanity. The relationship between John and Jesus was an especial relationship because Jesus came to help John to spread God message. According to the evidences from the Bible “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.” This demonstrates how Jesus using all the techniques that he had learn from John in order to guide people into God’s path. Moreover, for John was important to spread God’s message and help Jesus to accomplish this mission. Moreover, in Matthew chapter 11 verse 2 says “ Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?Jesus answered and said unto them,Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive them sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.” According to this evidence we can see that John wanted to make sure that the prophet that everyone was talking about was Jesus and that he kept spreading the repentance message and helping people to look for salvation in God.
