Week 16

How does the griot regard humankind and what is the tone of the griot?

During the introduction in the “ the Word of Griot,” we can clearly see a tone of confidence. The griot refers to his culture and history as the best and with a lot of pride. According to the following evidence we can see the tone “ the service of the Keita princes of Mali; we are vessels of speech, we are the repositories which harbor secrets many centuries old.” By the griot using words such as “we are “ demonstrates a sense of unity and culture. He defends his roots and history and seems to be very nationalist. Moreover, the griot regards humankind because of the things they have done that have marked our history nowadays. Things that still impact our present. “without us the names of kings would vanish into oblivion, we are the memory of mankind;” From my viewpoint, they are trying to say that they were first and that they created things and memories that are unremarkable generation through generation. They are a vivid memory of mankind because of their culture and history.
